In an effort to design a seeder offering more precision seed placement than either existing drills or other air type units, Hiniker introduced the 4800 planter unit. At last the convenience of a large single seed hopper and gentle air delivery is combined with a precision seed placement unit. Simple and accessible adjustments permit rapid transition in changing field conditions from tough no-till to soft conventional soils.

The 4850 toolbar is hinged both horizontally, to enable 90 degree front folding, and vertically to permit wing float of as much as 15 degrees in rolling terrain. By pairing right and left row units over 30" rows, ridge farmers are able to enjoy the narrow row benefits of soybeans while maintaining the 30" ridge for corn. The Hiniker 4800 (15") places the row exactly 7 1/2" between the old row and the wheeltrack area, unlike a splitter corn planter which places the seed in the corn stubble and the compacted wheel tracks.

Four-notch wrenchless adjustment effortlessly sets down pressure to match field conditions. Easily accessible lever provides 12 settings to accomodate given field condition. Klik pins provide 3" lateral adjustment. Convenient lever adjustment sets correct down pressure on closer arm. Situated at exact point of seed drop similar to gauge wheel placement on modern corn planters. The rotary disc closer captures the soil from the opener disc and gently brings it back to cover the seed and level the field. Single bolt adjustment offers 210 degree disc angle range. Gently firms the seed into slot created by the single disc opener resulting in optimum seed to soil contact. In wet conditions, the shoe will not pick up seed like a firming wheel or promote crusting like surface packing wheels. Permits easier and more uniform soil penetration than the double disc openers on most drills. Eliminates need for supplemental fluted coulters. Ensures that row unit maintains proper depth and correct relationship between ground engaging components regardless of toolbar height.
